Our parish will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary the weekend of September 30 - October 2nd, 2011.
Preparations are underway to make this a memorable weekend for everyone. Many interesting and spiritually stimulating events are planned. Our schedule for the weekend includes:
- A Fish Fry Dinner on Friday, Sept. 30 followed by Great Vespers for the Feast of the Protection of the Virgin Mary, then a "Walk Down Memory Lane" in our Orthodox Center.
- On Saturday morning, we'll celebrate the Divine Liturgy of the feast, followed by a brunch. Then join us for an educational forum for adults. The theme will be "Past, Present, and Future of the Protection of the Virgin Mary and the Orthodox Church in America. Fr. Theodore Panchak will speak on the past. Fr. Ken James Stavrevsky will speak on the present. His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, will address the future of our parish and the OCA. All total, we are planning a two-hour educational session plus questions and answers. Running concurrently will be a session for children and young adults. This will be led by Fr. Thomas Katich. Father Thomas was born and raised in Gary, IN and has been a friend of our parish for many years. Following the educational program we will celebrate Great Vespers at 4 PM followed by a Panahida for the departed of the parish, concluding with a meal.
- On Sunday, Oct. 2, we'll be begin with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah and visiting guests, followed by a Grand Banquet at St. Elijah's Serbian Hall in Merrillville, IN.

celebrate 100 years of Orthodoxy in Northwest Indiana on October 2, 2011.
By the grace of God, we are able to offer an extraordinary menu of chicken, beef and fish, with two
vegetables, potato, salad, coffee/tea, and dessert for only $30.00 per person! Children to age 12,
$15.00. Seating is 10 people to a table; the meal will be served family style.
We will dine at St. Elijah's Orthodox Hall on Taft Avenue in Merrillville immediately following the
Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, October 2.
